How to Access Care

There are three main ways to access in-home aged care with CatholicCare. Whichever pathway you use, you get the same team and the same standard of care.

Aged care funding can feel like one of the most confusing parts of the system, with different programs, different eligibility and different cost structures. But once you understand how the funding works, choosing the right path becomes much simpler. Whether your support is government-funded or arranged privately, our experienced team will work with you to make sure you get the care that matters most to you.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

Best for: Entry-level help to stay independent

Entry-level government-funded support to help you stay independent at home. We provide CHSP services across our region.

Support at Home

Best for: Ongoing, coordinated support

Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages in November 2025. We can help you understand what’s changed and what it means for you.

Private Services

Best for: Immediate or flexible support while waiting for funding

Flexible, fee-for-service support, useful while you’re waiting for funding or if you’d prefer not to go through the aged care system.

Not sure which pathway is right for you?

Most people need some help working out where to start. If you’re new to aged care, we can walk you through how the system works.

However you fund your care, our services are the same

Whether you access support through Support at Home, CHSP, or privately, you receive:

  • The same local CatholicCare team
  • The same standard of care
  • The same person-centred approach
  • The same range of services

What changes is how you access and how you pay for support, not the support itself. Our team can help you understand the differences and what they mean for your situation.
