CatholicCare is committed to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people and is given the highest priority in every preventative and protective action taken.
CatholicCare is committed to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people and is given the highest priority in every preventative and protective action taken. We recognise that the care and protection of children is a collective responsibility. We work in cooperation with government authorities, agencies and families in the care and protection of children and young people.
At CatholicCare, we show our commitment by:
- Developing policies and procedures that are underpinned by a commitment to promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people including those that are vulnerable, and
- Welcoming feedback from clients, including children and young people, and other stakeholders to improve CatholicCare’s practices.
CatholicCare, as an agency, and its personnel, individually, are committed to upholding the National Child Safe Standards and The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child are founded on respect for the dignity and worth of everyone, regardless of race, colour, gender, language, religion, opinions, origins, wealth, birth status or ability, and therefore apply to every human being, everywhere.
The four core principles of the UN Convention are:
- Non-discrimination
- Devotion to the best interests of the child
- The right to life, survival, and development
- Respect for the views of the child
