ASIST Workshop

ASIST Workshop

About

LivingWorks ASIST, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, is a two-day, interactive workshop that helps participants build the confidence and skills to support someone who may be thinking about suicide.

Delivered by CatholicCare Wollongong through our Pathways to Wellbeing program, ASIST teaches a practical suicide first-aid model that can be used by professionals, community members, volunteers, parents, carers, educators and anyone who wants to be better prepared to help.

Over the two days, you’ll learn how to recognise when someone may be at risk, speak openly and safely about suicide, and work with them to create a plan that supports their immediate safety. The workshop includes presentations, group discussion, video learning, shared reflection and hands-on skills practice in a safe and supportive environment.

ASIST is widely recognised as a leading suicide intervention training program and is used by both professionals and community members across many settings. No previous training or experience is required, just a willingness to learn, listen and help.
