Happy 1st Birthday
Today, we celebrated the first birthday of CatholicCare Early Learning Centre - Shellharbour, marked with laughter, balloons and cake.
To begin celebrations, our children did a special welcome to country, followed by a blessing from Father Joe Nguyen, All Saints Parish Priest.
One year ago, we held the official opening of the centre, which was a momentous day for CatholicCare, the Diocese of Wollongong and the Shellharbour community.
"CatholicCare Early Leaning Centre - Shellharbour was years in the making and delivered during the height of Covid-19 lockdowns, hampered by supply shortages, construction delays and a national health crisis", said Acting CEO, Tony Eid. "Luckily, a team of dedicated people wouldn't let the dream go", he said.
"The centre perfectly aligns with our mission to deliver effective and high-quality social services, and build the social and emotional wellbeing of individuals, families and communities", he said.
We wanted to mark our 1-year anniversary by acknowledging all involved in the journey. From Father Joe, who's vision and commitment made the centre possible, to the greater CatholicCare staff, in particular Michelle Ferrara, Executive Manager, Children & Youth and her team. Our passionate educators who show enthusiasm everyday nurturing, guiding and encouraging the children to be learners. And of course, the centre would not be possible without the children and their families who have welcomed us to be part of their community.
"A year on, the centre has achieved its purpose, as a place where children come to form friendships, explore, investigate, learn, grow, and flourish," said Tony.
