Dr Michael Carr-Gregg in the Wollongong Diocese

CatholicCare Wollongong brought Dr Michael Carr-Gregg to their Diocese to present seminars in both Campbelltown and Wollongong in late June.

Dr Carr-Gregg, well known for his work in adolescent mental health and parenting adolescents presented three different topics: mental health and young people, how to raise happy and resilient children and teenagers, and the 5 key challenges of being a parent in 2012.

Promoted as a Diocesan event, and open to anyone, 600 people attended the sessions including parents and professionals.

CatholicCare Director, Kath McCormack said the agency invited the high profile child and adolescent psychologist to town because of feedback received from parents that they are feeling overwhelmed.

"Community education has always been an important part of our ministry in the Wollongong Diocese", kath said.

"As someone with extensive experience and insight, he gave all those in the room a feeling of hope that they are able to make a difference in the lives of the children and young people by re-enforcing the basics", she continued.
