CatholicCare St Patrick's Race Day 2012

On Saturday March 17 2012 the annual CatholicCare St Patrick's Race Day was held at Kembla Grange Racecourse. In the weeks leading up to the event, there was an array of weather conditions experienced, from very hot autumn days to severe flooding the next. The organisers did not know what to expect on this particular Saturday.

The generous donations received from staff, volunteers and supporters of CatholicCare will ensure that our programs like Foster Care as well as our Sibling Support and Partners in Parenting groups, continue to provide valuable services to some of CatholicCare's youngest and most vulnerable members of our community.

The day started with Greg Doyle, CatholicCare's Advisory Council Chairperson, kicking off proceedings. Bishop Peter Ingham and CatholicCare Director Kath McCormack then addressed the guests.

Kath thanked the myriad of guests which included staff and long-time supporters of the agency; including those who travelled interstate and internationally to be apart of the day.

The enjoyable atmosphere can be attributed to the undercurrent of excitement that moved about the room and the pleasing combination of the sunshine, bright colours and the decorative fashions of the punters. The smooth running of proceedings is a credit to the tireless voluntary efforts of the organising committee and those staff members who lent a helping hand in the days leading up to the event.

Kath McCormack says 'Our fundraising events are a perfect opportunity for each person to truly make a contribution to the work we do everyday at CatholicCare. This day was a wonderful occasion to come together, enjoy the festivities and also support those who are vulnerable and most disadvantaged in our community'.

Overall the day was a success raising $19,000 for our programs.
